Inside the Studio

Built on more
than aesthetics.

Studio ALLUR is the work of one person with a decade inside engineering, R&D, and product development before design became the focus. That background is the real differentiator, not the style.

The founder

I didn't start in design.
That's the whole point.

I'm Aleks Gerlica. Before opening the studio, I spent nearly a decade inside companies — in product development, manufacturing, and on projects. Not as an outside contractor, but as part of the team.

360 Karting

Production · Design · Project Management · Engineering

360karting.com ↗

Based in Koper, Slovenia, 360 Karting is today the world's largest manufacturer of multi-level go-kart tracks. 160+ tracks delivered globally — for clients including Andretti Indoor Karting & Games, Urban Air, Supercharged (the world's largest indoor multi-level karting track), and The Grid, primarily in the US, Europe, and Asia.

I started in 2016 as a student, when the company was still small and virtually unknown outside the industry. The first months were on the production floor — welding structures, building custom barriers, testing prototypes. Still a student, I moved into the office — there were two of us — and was later hired as a product developer and design engineer. Gradually took over international project management and later moved into the design department, working directly with clients on 3D venue scans, racing line optimisation, and full concept-to-production documentation. On-site at the Urban Air installation in Dallas and at product test builds in Vicenza. This was where I first saw the full picture — from early sketch, render, project management, and engineering to BOMs, ERP system, PDM database, and supplier files.

360 Karting is today the global leader in this segment.

ROBETA

Head of R&D · Creative Partner

robeta-campervans.com ↗

Premium campervan manufacturer, founded in 2011. ROBETA has grown from a garage workshop to 120+ employees with €43M revenue in 2024, delivering 500 campervans annually — over half exported to Germany. Known for the Ralf Schumacher Edition (from €300,000).

I joined as a product developer — at the time, one of two people in the company doing 3D modelling. Started on nesting sheets, model revisions, and day-to-day production support, then grew into Head of R&D. The department grew from a one-person setup into a four-person team. As R&D lead, we started to build a shared PDM database and simplify the product portfolio: unifying the modelling system, rebuilding the model library around modular components, and standardising what could be shared across different lines. Delivered two new campervan product lines on Stellantis and Mercedes platforms, taking concepts from sketch through to production documentation.

Through Studio ALLUR, I continue as an external creative partner — part of the R&D team, working on custom client projects and new model development.

Alestimo

Co-Founder

alestimo.com ↗

Alestimo is a brand of accessories for cigar enthusiasts, co-founded with a friend at the age of 20. Both of us were employed full-time; the brand was built on the side — from first idea to first products and first customers.

Together we set up the whole system: name, logo, visual identity, packaging, visual language, and B2B communication. The first product was a cigar holder, also available with 24-carat gold plating. Customers came primarily through social media — from Australia and the US to Europe and the Middle East. Our products were also stocked in selected showrooms around the world, among them in Dubai, where the interior designers of the new Nobu restaurant spotted one of our ashtrays on display and commissioned ashtrays for the venue.

After a few years, we parted ways; my partner continues to run the brand under the same name with new products. The experience of building as an owner, not as a hired hand, shapes how I approach every client project today.

I don't start with aesthetics. I start with the business, the constraint, and the real problem, and I stay involved long enough to know whether the answer actually worked.

Why it matters

Not a typical design studio.

Engineering first

A decade inside R&D, product development, and manufacturing before design became the focus. Every decision is tested against what can actually be built.

Full-spectrum thinking

Brand, product, packaging, interior, supplier, all in one head. No handoffs between departments. No gaps in translation.

Owner mentality

Co-founded and exited a luxury brand. That means I think about cost, margin, shelf presence, and customer perception, not just how things look.

The right background
for the right project.
